TOYOTA GAZOO Racing fans celebrate the joy of driving at After Hours Event

  • TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (TGR) event hosted by OpenRoad Toyota Richmond attracts 200 enthusiasts and more than 100 Toyota GR vehicles to BC’s Lower Mainland

  • Special guests included Naohiko Saito, Chief Engineer for the GR Yaris

TORONTO, May 15, 2025 – The largest-ever Canadian gathering of fun-to-drive vehicles built under the Toyota  GAZOO Racing (TGR) umbrella took place on May 4th in Richmond, BC.

Passionate drivers and fans of the GR Supra, GR Corolla, and GR86 shared their love for high-performance cars at a recent TGR After Hours event, hosted by OpenRoad Toyota Richmond. The event returned for its second year with an even greater presence after last year’s successful gathering saw dozens of enthusiasts come together to celebrate their passion and show off their own Toyota GR vehicles.

This year, the event attracted interest from over 100 TGR owners in British Columbia and across the West Coast – many of whom are members of local car clubs – in addition to special guest and GR Yaris Chief Engineer, Naohiko Saito.

Attendees also enjoyed the opportunity to dive deeper into the TGR brand and were also able to explore the all-new 2025 GR Corolla, now available with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This new grade expands TGR’s mission of providing thrilling performance to even more enthusiasts.

Several GR Corolla OEM accessories were also on display, including a performance damper, lowering spring kit, rear V-brace and GR shift knob – showcasing a wide range of  upgrades available for enthusiasts looking to customize their vehicle through Toyota dealerships.

TOYOTA GAZOO Racing builds high-performance vehicles that embody the same DNA as those that have participated in some of the world’s greatest motorsports races. The TGR After Dark event is just one of the many ways in which Toyota and its dealers highlight their commitment to providing Canadians with the industry’s broadest range of vehicles.

“I’m impressed and humbled by the massive enthusiasm of TGR owners and fans on the West Coast, and am very excited for even greater things to come in the future,” said Say Phin Lim, the event’s main organizer and Service Manager at OpenRoad Toyota Richmond.
